Through these activities, we aim to help create new industries and contribute to a prosperous, fulfilling society

I’MSEP Co., Ltd. is working on R&D for social implementation of innovative technologies that enable CO2 resource utilization, based on the concept of a "carbon-driven society".

I’MSEP Co., Ltd. has achieved "electrolytic carbon plating" that is impossible in aqueous systems by using "molten salt" as the electrolytic bath. This innovative technology can improve the performance of energy conversion electrochemical devices for the coming EV and 5G era, enhance the corrosion resistance of fasteners such as bolts, nuts, and screws, and has potential applications in heat-transfer components, electrolysis electrodes, and biosensors.

I’MSEP Co., Ltd. has proposed an "atmospheric pressure ammonia electrolytic synthesis method" using molten salt as the electrolytic bath, and is working on R&D toward practical application to address environmental and energy issues.
For example, extracting and recovering only rare earth elements from waste magnets. Elements that are difficult to separate with conventional technologies can be selectively separated and recovered in molten salt. This enables effective use of a wide range of rare metals, including high-melting-point, high-hardness metals, precious metals, and rare earth metals.
Molten salt electrolysis for metal refining continues to be used in the production of aluminum, magnesium, rare earth metals, and more. We support the sustainable development of metal refining technology through small-scale electrolysis testing, material development, and electrolyzer structure improvements.
Since our founding in April 2006, we have focused on R&D using the Molten Salt Electrochemical Process (MSEP) as our core technology, achieving world-leading results in the fields of the environment, energy, resources, and nanotechnology.
I’MSEP Co., Ltd. has the technical capabilities to carry forward, innovate, and pass on molten salt electrochemical refining technologies for aluminum, rare earth metals, metallic magnesium, and metallic lithium. We are actively engaged in business activities that support the international community's paradigm shift toward a carbon-neutral, clean new era as advocated by the SDGs.
Compared with aqueous solutions, molten salts offer attractive properties and functions that aqueous systems cannot provide:
■ Ability to dissolve a wide variety of substances
■ Chemical stability with a wide "electrochemical window"
■ High electrical conductivity
■ Large latent heat of fusion/solidification
■ High resistance to radiation
The paradigm shift toward an "SDGs" society is becoming a major trend alongside post-COVID social transformation. I’MSEP Co., Ltd. has developed various "molten salt electrochemical process technologies" including "carbon plating," "CO2 resource utilization," "nanoparticle production," "recycling," and "ammonia electrolytic synthesis," and interest and expectations for these technologies both domestically and internationally continue to grow.
Highly specialized work is a hallmark of I’MSEP.
Through work at our company, we help employees sharpen their expertise
and thrive not as simple operators, but as highly skilled "researchers."
